While on our recent holiday in England, Mr K and I went down to St. Ives in Cornwall with my cousins. This was the first time Mr K and I had ever been there and it was totally lovely!
A first view -
The harbour and pier -
The Promanade and the Life Boat House -
The Life Boat was just on it's way out -
These signs were posted all along the Promanade and pier. One about it being a working harbour and the other not to feed the gulls.
The gulls used to swoop down and either knock food out of peoples hands or even snatch and fly away with it. We saw a man lose his Cornish Pasty this way and one of the gulls chased the others away so he could have it all to himself. Perhaps it was the one who knocked it out of the man's hands.
Some pretty and original flower boxes on the side of a building on the Promanade -
Someone had partially boarded up their door, whether they were expecting a very high tide, ;D or because they were away, I don't know.
A very narrow house, just one room wide!
The fishing pier with all the nets and baskets ready for use -
Some charming and colourful hotels down near the Promanade -
St. Ives has four beaches. This is the one that the surfers go to.
A lovely windowsill planter seen along the way -
Flowers grew out of the old walls -
- and even tiny ferns were growing everywhere. The fronds were only about finger length.
Here is a furry friend that we met -
I don't know if any of you know this old childrens rhyme, Davidm will.
