She walked into the store of Life with one intention: to buy a mask called Cynicism.
Out of all the colors and shapes in the store of Life, Cynicism stood out. She had lost her cloak of Innate Goodness when it fatally dissolved into an acidic solution. The acidic solution contained an ingredient called People, for that ingredient was the heart of Innate Goodness’s passing. A replacement was needed. “So Cynicism it is.”, said the yearning heart.
She looked around and her thoughts amalgamated into a world of endless fantasies and ideals that will be shaped by the new mask. She was ready to embrace a new world that brought protection at her own disposal. She needed that mask to shield herself from the contaminated airs of hatred, deceit, envy, and other ailments of the ego. This was her only way of shielding her innocence and naivety, for it has been shattered permanently.
With Cynicism, she will be more cautious and will learn to see the red flags that she had never seen before.
With Cynicism, she will be able say good-bye to a heart that has put up with so much pain.
With Cynicism, she will learn to not give her heart until it is worthy of being earned.
With Cynicism, she will read minds and execute manipulative schemes.
With Cynicism, she will retaliate.
With Cynicism, she will be able to SEE people in their true colors.
Her thoughts were interrupted by thunder.
The store of Life was nearing its time of closing.
A decision needed to be made.
She looked at the mask and for the first time sees how attractive it is. It was the only one left.
She abruptly reached out to the mask; for her face was going to be its new home.
But…
She turned around and heard her calling. The muffled voice and dim light of Innate Goodness made its feeble presence again. It was far away, but she could still see its shape.
With the confidence of a solider, she throws away the mask of Cynicism with the hope that a person with an element of Innate Cynicism will buy it.
She ran out the door and played in the rain.
Her heart was too pure for the mask of Cynicism…
