Ok....a stab at Science fiction (my first)....
On Vega -4 we created a new form of life. A form of life that could never
have evolved naturally. A life that ordinary beings could only dream about.
Our idea was simple. We re-wrote the book of life....or should I say Leonid Levia did that. My task was to provide an environment in which the new life could grow. Levia was a genius. A man of astounding intellect. From the very start we were in awe of him. His reputation as the lead design at Senitas is still part of new science folk-law. He invented genetic engineering codes
other scientists could only dream about. It was Levia who introduced me to the idea of Multiple Layering. A gene is copied many times over and the genome reset. There are only 30,000 genes in a human genome...and 3 billion letters. By use of multiple layering we produced healthier humans.
So healthy...so resistant to desease...they never fell ill. Never caught a cold.
Never became depressed and certainly never died young through natural causes.
That was forty years ago. Leonid Levia died a happy man and a hero. Then the problems began....
Genes interact with each other and with the environment and the products of these interactions may vary throughout the lifetime of a human.
This can cause genes to replicate, reorganize, or even travel outside the organism. The danger is enhanced by the fact that microorganisms genetically engineered for “‘contained use” may not be effectively contained.
DNA released from cells is not readily broken down in the environment, so it retains the ability to transform other organisms. In short.......our guinea pigs
began to "experience"some strange happenings.....
(Ok..that is a far as I go tonight....if anyone thinks it's worth continuing with... ... I will put more up)
