Poetic Horizons Guidelines' and Goals
Welcome to all and thank you for your interest in registering. Poetic Horizons, I hope will provide a shared adventure … a new adventure ... in creating an exciting and productive, poetry, short story and everyday discussion forum.
Please make sure that you read and understand ProBoards' Terms of Agreement and ProBoards Community Guidelines before completing your registration. It is always best to be familiar with the rules ahead of time, helping any potential problems and concerns to be settled easily. The Terms of Agreement link and the ProBoards Community Guidelines in full are posted for your convenience at the bottom of this page.
Poetic Horizons' Goals
The goals are very simple: To provide a forum in which to share and develop one’s writing, and to do so among friends who express the same passion for the written word. Our success will be based upon the foundation of our mutual respect of poetry, prose and our interest in sharing lively and friendly discussions. Together, as a membership, we will provide for one another an opportunity to further develop skills, insights, and in general, an overall greater appreciation of the written word.
In general Viewing and Critiquing guidelines
All of our boards are open to critique unless otherwise specified by the author. As always, along with mutual sharing, equally important is mutual respect ... respect for persons, places, and the ideas of others despite differences of experience and points of view. Respect for each member’s style, experience and abilities should always come first when offering any type of critique. As the reader, feel free to offer suggestions and critique on other's work unless the author states otherwise. When giving advice be polite and supportive.
As the author, if someone makes suggestions about your poem you should not take their advice personally. Unless it has to do with grammar, spelling or the correct structure of a classic form, remember... it is an opinion.
Boards not visible to Guests are Short Story Member View Only and The Novel and Adult(poetry of more mature nature) . At this time the majority of PH Boards are visible to Guests.
RULES
Participation and Replies
Participation is essential to any successful website.
We ask that when posting your poetry that you respond in kind by replying to other poet's poems and short stories so that all may enjoy the pleasure of reading comments and critique. However, there is no required minimum reply quota to other member's work, when posting one's own poem or prose. It is my hope that no coaxing or threats of locked threads will be needed for all to fully participate and share at Poetic Horizons.Try to participate as fully and as often as you can, and please don't fall in to the habit of posting and running.
Also, if you receive a comment, constructive critique or suggestions from a member on one of your poems, please try remember to acknowledge and thank the member for their time and efforts.
Posting your work
We also ask that you do not flood any one forum with new poetry posts. Please only submit two new poems per forum per day. Please do not post more than one poem per post, posts containing multiply poems or stories as one single original posts will be removed. We also have tried to provide different forums to accommodate different types and moods of work. Please try to post your poems in the most appropriate forum, however, if you make a mistake please do not hesitate to PM the Admin to move your work ……It will be moved ASAP.
When posting in the Visual Arts category you may, however, posts as many new topics as you wish within reason. Starting several new topics in a row will not be considered flooding on the Paintings, Photography or Graphics Boards.
Content- Please Read Carefully
In general, topics that glorify or condone violence towards oneself or others, or topics written primarily for "violent shock value" will not be appropriate for this site. Topics of abuse towards persons of any gender, age or diversity will certainly be looked carefully as to whether they have constructive merit. Prose or poetry with precise and descriptive explicit “sexual acts” will not be allowed. Using offensive language solely for the purpose of "being offensive", will be subject to review. You can use “cuss” words in a poem/post as long as they are appropriate to the content and their use is not in excess. If you are unsure as to whether a topic or word usage might be inappropriate please feel free to contact the Admin with your concerns by PM, and we can review the write prior to posting.
All photos, graphics, personal banners, avatars and all other visual materials will adhere to the same rules as written topics; no pornography or sexually explicit images are permitted, as well as images which appear to be posted only to condone violence or physical abuse towards individuals and/or nations, religions or ethnic groups.
Equally important, topics or personal attacks on any one member or members, or his/her opinions or poetry will be considered as behavior inappropriate for Poetic Horizons. Any member engaging in such behavior will be deleted from the thread and if necessary removed from our membership. Attacks on any one member's gender, sexuality, race, nationality, faith or social status will not be tolerated in any way.
