The human activist poet/writer
A voice to simulate the mind, to awaken the passion that cascades through our veins, a truth seeker, and witness of the human condition, and last but not least a social conscience. The human activist poet/writer must be a part of, but also removed from what ever they are writing about, as I like to say, to be both common and elite at the same time. As human activist poets, we know that what we are writing comes from deep within our human spirit, burning like an out of control fire. We are an honest witness for all the wrongs that are visited upon the world, and we bear witness to all hate and misery that engulfs humanity.
We are the least appreciated of all poets/writers. We see what can not be seen, we hear what can not be heard, and we feel what can not be felt. We have the uncanny ability to peel back the layers of our illusionary world and find the hidden truth. We show the world what they do not want to see. The human activist poet/writer is an artist, an artist who paints a picture with words. Social activist poets/writers are endowed with extraordinary spiritual and true human moral insights, which revel the most frightening truths about our society and ourselves. We shed light on the myths that enslave us, and keep us from being as one. We must always expose the sham, of the fantasy world that those who enslave our minds have erected.
Many have come before us to light the way, and many have given their lives to help awaken the world to its humanity, we have giant shoes to fill. We must never compromise or sellout our beliefs. For as Malcolm x and Doctor King said: if you are not willing to die for your beliefs, you do not have any.
So as you see the social activist poet/writer, should he or she take on that role has a huge responsibility to fill. Truth seeker, prophet, philosopher, social conscience. A wearer of many hats, but most of all a champion for the enlightenment of all humanity.
